I have plans!

I bought these last night:

Photobucket

Oh the plans I have for them. I am super excited. I got them off etsy. EpochBeads.etsy.com I haven't received them yet and it's right before Christmas so you know if it takes awhile I'll understand. Fiber and plastic retro flowers will meet and it will be glorious! Just wait and see.

Spinning harder than I thought

I received my drop spindle. Spent Sunday trying and trying to spin only to have everything keep coming unraveled... i didn't realize your suppose to set your twist. *sigh* I was very disappointed. Also, my hook broke off my spindle already. It just came unscrewed I'm going to try gluing it in and see if that makes it stick. Now that I've read up on setting the twist I will have to try it. Then I'll get some pictures up of my spinning attempts.

drop spindle

So I bought a drop spindle. I d0 have that one fancy smancy spindle that I don't get but because it was handmade and so pretty I just had to have. But this spindle that I bought it like the one mentioned in my spinning book. I have no clue what to spin but I have some wool so, we'll see what I can do. I bought it off etsy so it hasn't arrived yet. I'll have to remember to take pictures of my first efforts to post on here. I am sure it's going to look sloppy and icky and I'll get fustrated and think i'll never be able to do it and then sure enough I'll keep at it and finally master it. Hopefully anyway. The spindle is not super fancy or pretty. But right now I'm more concerned about learning than I am about looks.

Sales and wool

This has been a good week for me in the craft department.

I sold one of my felt necklaces! I love them personally. I was creating things for the craft fair on Nov. 16 when I came up with the idea for them. I made one loved it and was like... wow quick and easy and ending up making a ton of them in different shades and lengths. I prefer one that I have in pea green on a cotton cord and I wear it frequently. Most necklaces with metal chains end up irritating me and turning my neck green. This one is so lightweight I forget I am wearing it. I just wasn't sure if other people liked it. Sure I did but I do march to my own drum. So I am thrilled that other people like it too. I even had someone request a custom one. :)

I also sold one of my fav. scarves to my team lead Lynda today. Now that i think of it I don't think I have a picture of that one. Bummer. I was going to upload a picture. I didn't even realize until now I never got a picture of it. It is so hard to explain, lots of colors, wide, long, and thick. Hopefully she gets a chance to wear it, I know Florida's way too hot weather doesn't give many chances for scarves to be worn. Lynda also custom ordered an ipod cozy. I'm excited.

I probably won't be listing every sale I ever make. I'm just excited because these are my first. It is so much more fulfilling to make something and sale it and to do it all yourself then it is to work hard for someone else and barely get noticed for your work.

Well I have a lot of work on my hands right now with the etsy shop. Things to make, descriptions to prepare. I'm so glad I enjoy it.

My first post

I said I'd never have a craft blog. I thought them silly. Well maybe they are not as silly as I thought they were. I'll give it a go see what happens. This is my first post to test this blog. Just like a band before a show. "Test, test, is this thing on." Or if I was a 13 year old in a band, "testies, testies, (giggle, giggle) is this thing on?"
